About Æva Black

Ms. Black is an open source hacker and technology advisor who is passionate about the sustainability and security of open source software development communities.

After contributing to President Biden's landmark National Cybersecurity Strategy in early 2023, she was recruited to lead the Open Source team within the Vulnerability Management division of the U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency.

In 2021, Æva co-founded the OmniBOR project and introduced artifact dependency graphs to the field of software supply chain security. Throughout her 25 year career, she has been an early contributor to numerous internet standards, worked at a few U.S. tech giants, served on the Board of the Open Source Initiative, and served on the technical advisory committees of the Open Source Security Foundation and the Open Infrastructure Foundation.
